UPDATES ABOUT THE 2009 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CONGRESS

• Notable Dates for Congress 2009:
  January 5, 2009 - price increase (after January 5th: Youth Day $25 per person; Congress $70 per person)
  January 30 - Begin mailing of Youth Day and Congress tickets
  February 1 - Youth Day closes to new registrations
  February 10 - Volunteer meeting
  February 16 - Last day to mail out-of-state tickets
  February 17 - Last day to mail Youth Day tickets
  February 19 - Online registration ends
  February 20 - Last day to mail tickets to California addresses
   
• January 6: Jim Wallis is announced as Keynote for Congress 2009
   
• Our Congress Volunteer will be held on February 10, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Vincent Church, 621 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90007 (Get directions).
   
• Volunteers' Note: We are in the process of mailing the volunteer information. Materials should be mailed out by November 10, 2008.
   
• The correct title for Abbot Christopher Jamison's Friday workshops should be
       2-10: Finding Sanctuary: Monastic Steps for Everyday Life
   
• The Anaheim Resort Transit (ART), the area shuttle service from hotels to the Disney Theme Parks and the Anaheim Convention Center, announced updated rates on October 9, 2008: one-day unlimited use adult passes are $4, two-day $8, three-day $10. Children one-day passes are $1, two-day $2. (These update the rates posted in our Registration Guidebook.)
   
• Session 6-13 – "Don't Sell Your Soul: Being Church in a Consumer Culture" by Edward Hahnenberg – will be recorded. The recording symbol was missed on the description page of the Registration Guidebook.
   

• Announced incorrectly in our November 2008 Emailing, the Outdoor Entertainment with the Vietnamese Youth and Brother Phong is on Saturday not Friday.
   

• Owen Danaher friend and committed volunteer to Congress for so many years, has passed away. His Memorial Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 at 10 a.m. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Mary Parish in San Dimas.

"I worked with Owen for over 35 years at Congress. In addition, he was the treasurer of the Pacific Railroad Society (PRS), an organization to which I have belonged for over 35 years. The PRS is a historical and operating railroad organization. We run a museum in the former Santa Fe depot in San Dimas, and own and operate eight private passenger railroad cars, which we house in the City of Commerce. Owen will be sorely missed by both organizations."
