Youth Day 2015 Video

Here is our video of Youth Day 2015 by Alanzo Moreno from The Making.

What is Youth Day?

Youth Day is held annually on the Thursday of the Religious Education Congress weekend. It is a day just for youth from many different backgrounds from throughout the Archdiocese – and beyond – to participate in a Rally, Liturgy and Workshops focused just for them.

Who May Attend?

Youth Day is designed for all students from public and Catholic schools, grades 9 through 12. NOTE: Students below the 9th grade are not allowed to participate in this event and will be refused admission. One Adult Chaperone is required for each group of 10 students (maximum), all attending the same workshop. We recommend that you add one extra Chaperone name to your first registration.

What Does Youth Day Cost?

Youth Day is separate registration and fee from the adult Congress days. The registration fee for Youth Day 2016 is $30 ($35 after January 8, 2016).

Youth Day 2016 Schedule

New this year, Youth Day 2016 adds a second workshop period. Each group chooses either a morning Arena General Session (Track 1) or afternoon Arena General Session (Track 2) -- so everyone gets to see the Arena speaker -- and selects two workshops from the 14 Youth Day speakers.

Volunteering at Youth Day

ADULT OPPORTUNITIES

Adult Volunteers -- The Youth Day staff invites any adult not chaperoning a parish or school group to be a volunteer for our event. Youth Day volunteers are assigned to a variety of positions throughout the day. This is a great way to experience Youth Day without the duties of being a chaperone – and to enjoy our event for free. To volunteer for Youth Day 2016, an adult needs to have been trained in accordance with their Diocesan Youth Protection policies and have had the appropriate diocesan required background check. Please contact your Diocesan Youth Ministry Office to find out more details about your required programs. For more information about volunteering or to submit your name to be part of our team, please contact Erin Avila at recyouthday@gmail.com or at (559) 259-8232. Come join the fun, we need you!

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES

Here are some ways you can be a part of Youth Day 2016!

Spirit Squad -- The Spirit Squad will be used throughout the day to pump up the crowd with games and chants, promote the theme, help direct attention to social media, and transition participants from events throughout the day. If you are ready to show your spirit and have some fun, make sure to attend the Training Day. For more information, please contact Victoria Radleigh at youthministry@ollnr.org.

Social Media -- Are you good with social media? #LAYouthDay needs you! We are looking for a team of high school aged youth to help us populate our social media platforms the day of L.A. Youth Day. There will be an application and interview process along with a Training Day. For more information please contact Katie Hernandez-Trejo at k.hernandez@la-archdiocese.org.

Youth Day Emcee -- Youth Day is looking for young people to introduce speakers and help with rallies. Do you like performing in front of large crowds? Do you like to help others have a good time? If you answered “yes” to these questions, then come be part of this great day! Be an Emcee at Youth Day 2016 and attend our Training Day. For more information, please contact Christina Lamas at clamas@la-archdiocese.org

Arena Liturgy Choir & Band -- Youth Day 2016 is looking for youth voices and musical talent for the archdiocesan Arena Liturgy Choir & Band. Check back for the rehearsal schedule and location. For more information, please contact Katie Zeigler at kzeigler@la-archdiocese.org.

Youth Day Rally -- Do you love to sing? Are you a person who can speak in front of a large group of teens? We would love to have teens be part of the Youth Day Rally! You will have to attend an audition, training day and practices prior to Youth Day. For more information, contact Mary Hernandez at sh.cia.ym@gmail.com

The Youth Day App!

Our Youth Day app is available at AppStore.com/LosAngelesYouthDay. You can always download the Youth Day app (currently with 2015 info) for iPhone and iPod Touch now, and it will automatically update itself every year when new versions are released. With this app you can stay up-to-date with all Youth Day speakers, musicians and performers by following them on Twitter, viewing their websites and even finding them on Facebook.

Youth Day is much more than just a one-day experience and this app will allow you to keep with you what each speaker and musician says long after the day is over. And now you can view the social media accounts for each presenter and musician to help put everything they say at Youth Day into action.

If you are having any technical problems with the app, please try deleting the application and reinstalling the application. If you would like to report a bug or have more questions about the app, contact the developer directly YDapp@la-archdiocese.org
