What is Youth Day?
Youth Day is held annually on the Thursday of the Religious Education Congress weekend. All High School students are invited, and many different backgrounds from throughout the Archdiocese – and beyond – come together to participate in morning and afternoon Workshops, Liturgy and a Rally.
Who May Attend?
Youth Day is designed for all students from public and Catholic schools, grades 9 through 12. NOTE: Students below the 9th grade are not allowed to participate in this event and will be refused admission.
What Does Youth Day Cost?
Adult chaperones are required for each group of 10 students (maximum), all attending the same workshop. We recommend one extra chaperone for all your groups and suggest you add the additional name to your first group registered. The registration fee for Youth Day 2012 is $20 ($25 after February 4, 2012).

Youth Day 2012 Trading Items
any groups have been asking about starting a tradition of creating “Trading Items” for Youth Day. This would be based on a similar trend that happens at the National Catholic Youth Conference, where different dioceses bring little items that represent their city or area of the country to trade with other people. We are hoping that parishes and schools will think of small, fun items that represent them to bring to Youth Day and trade with others. It’s a fun way to enhance the interaction between groups.M
Youth Day 2012 ThemeThe theme for the day is "Called Out: Challenge Accepted." We are CALLED OUT to serve others and share the Good News. We say CHALLENGE ACCEPTED when we are God for others and become the light that leads others out of the darkness.
See the Reading for Youth Day 2012 Below are the thoughts developed from the theme meeting. It shows what the young people were thinking after reflecting on the readings of the day for Youth Day 2012.

Planning your calendar for next year?! Youth Day is scheduled for February 21, 2013!
Collection at Last Year's Youth DayIt looks like we collected almost $15,500 at Youth Day for CRS’ work in Japan – that's about $1 per participant. (We're still counting the change, hoping it puts us right at $15,500!) I know the young people of LA (and beyond) say thank you for helping us to make it possible to be in solidarity with those in Japan.
– Mike Norman, Youth Day Coordinator (March 23, 2011)
Beautiful! I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU on behalf of all of us in CRS. This collection is the Good News lived out at Youth Day and spread across the waters to Japan!!! Solidarity is alive and well in the young church of Los Angeles! I will be getting an update on Caritas Japan’s response and our support of that response in the coming days to share with you, but wanted to reach out to share our heartfelt thanks for this action in solidarity with the vulnerable of Japan that we, through Caritas Japan and our partners there, will be responding to.
On Youth Day, our team of volunteers and I also collected an estimated 2,000-plus interfaith prayers and messages of solidarity that I have rolled up and have ready to go to mail to Japan to show that the young church of Los Angeles at L.A. Youth Day are in solidarity with Caritas Japan and those they serve. It was a beautiful outpouring of support and we quickly filled up (both sides) a huge roll of paper in just a few hours' time. I am sure it will be received with great appreciation from the staff there and those they serve.
On behalf of all of us at CRS, I wanted to say what a gift our collaboration is to all of us in CRS! Congratulations on a beautiful Youth Day, Congress and Spirit-filled weekend. God is good all the time.
